Federal Government Department responsible for the design and implementation of the Australian Government's infrastructure, transport and regional development policies and programs, and is the lead agency for communications and the arts.
About the Role
The Financial Governance and Procurement team operate within the Department's Finance, Governance and Budget Division. The team works closely with the Department's legal and finance sections to support the broader Department in delivering a wide range of activities including Procurement, Financial Delegations, Accountable Authority Instructions (AAIs), Financial Literacy and Compliance Reporting. The team provides professional high- quality support and advice to the Executive and the Department's business divisions to enable them to deliver their respective programs and activities, in line with the Resource Management Framework, and related policy and guidance.
Key Duties
- Provide Financial Governance expertise and advice to business areas to ensure compliance with
- legislative requirements;
- Liaise professionally with internal and external stakeholders such as Divisions, Auditors, and other Commonwealth agencies;
- Monitor and respond to helpdesk enquiries;
- Review, investigate and report non-compliance with Finance Law in line with the legislative requirements;
- Coordinate reporting on relevant frameworks and prepare briefs, minutes and papers;
- Quality assure Financial Governance information
- Develop user documentation to support the use of the solution by business.
- Support the Delivery Manager or Scrum Master to promote the Agile delivery process and continuous improvement process
- Participate and support key sprint ceremonies
- Support team to set sprint goals and guide team to achieve the sprint goals
- Engage with business to facilitate involvement in the Agile delivery process
- Participates in Sprint Retrospective to review how well the Sprint was executed and identify opportunities for improvements to the delivery process.
To be successful you will have the following skills, experience and attributes:
- Strong working knowledge of Financial Governance or Management Frameworks, including the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act, Financial Delegations, Accountable Authority Instructions (AAIs) and associated policies and guidance;
- Ability to proactively engage with stakeholders to provide accurate and timely advice on Financial Policy and
- Ability to analyse continuous improvement and process issues and effectively communicate advice to others
- Ability to manage competing priorities and changing timeframes in a fast paced, dynamic environment;
- A working knowledge of SAP is desirable; and
- Excellent communications skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships
