Senior Finance Officer, Financial Systems

As the Senior Finance Officer, Financial Systems, your key responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the provision of a comprehensive assessment of core systems that impact the Department’s financials and help ensure the key financial business requirements are achieved. Due regard must be given to Australian Accounting Standards and Government financial legislation and policies.
- Demonstrated understanding of the end-to-end processing of multiple systems that integrate with the primary financial management system.
- Undertake an active role in the team’s development and improvement of business processes in enhanced or upgraded systems.
- Assist in the completion of rigorous testing of systems that integrate with the core financial management system to ensure a stable environment exists, escalating risks and issues as needed to management and/or to the implementation team.
- Complete payroll related activities, including reconciliations in alignment with policy, accounting standards and reporting requirements.
- Provide advice to the line manager on system opportunities that will improve the efficiency of the Branch and the Hospital and Health Services (HHSs) in delivering better financial reports.
- Contribute to key system upgrades by providing technical advice on financial integration impacts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in regard to any systems related developments that impact the Department’s core financial business.
- Attend, development and deliver workshops that represent the Finance Branch in relation to financial and payroll system change and upgrade meetings where required, and key forums.
- Assist in reviewing and analysing the financial impact of actions and items arising from system-related workshops.
- Undertake advanced analysis of data utilising various applications and methods to enable integrated data and process improvement services to a range of clients including Hospital and Health Services (HHSs), DoH business areas.
- Manage time and prioritise tasks to assist in the follow up of outstanding finance system issues where queries remain unresolved or outstanding.
- Liaise with colleagues across the Department and other units in Finance Branch and provide advice to the HHSs as information is obtained.
- Assist in the identification, development and continual improvement of systems and reports.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- Experience with Financial Systems implementations, documenting business process flows and/or exposure to a complex system environment will assist the applicant in being successful in this challenging and varied role.
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of Financial Statements and the ability to interpret Government financial legislation and policies; Australian Accounting Standards and other prescribed requirements to ensure new or enhanced systems are compliant with all requirements.
- Demonstrated data manipulation and analysis ability, including experience in interrogating, extracting and manipulating data, conducting analysis and produce figures and tables; and experience with large and complex data sets and financial / payroll system databases.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with senior personnel and maintain positive and effective stakeholder, client and team relationships.
