The Opportunity
The Finance Strategy and Planning team provides strategic financial capability to support University strategic planning and resource allocation decisions. The team provides financial management advice, benchmarks finance measures across Faculties and the overall University, and reviews or provide business case financials. The team has a key role in ensuring business proposals and existing UNSW forward estimates are robust and reflect known, anticipated and emerging fiscal risks.
Finance Strategy and Planning is responsible for developing and implementing a Financial Strategy to support major projects within UNSW and its current ten-year operational strategy. This function comprises a program management capability and a small team of analysts who provide advisory services to support decision making through financial analysis and modelling.
The Senior Finance Strategy & Planning Analyst reports to the Senior Manager – Finance Strategy & Planning and has no direct reports

Who you are
- CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent), supplemented with demonstrated success in business analysis and managing multiple complex projects in a large and diverse organisation
- Well-developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop, analyse and interpret complex data and data models and provide strategic direction and advice to senior management and to nonfinance managers
- Demonstrated experience in providing clear and relevant analytical insights and financial modelling
- Capability to challenge the status quo where required and be proactive in developing improvements in finance policies and practices
- Ability to work independently, taking initiative to identify and overcome barriers with pragmatic workarounds
