Northern Star Resources' Jundee Operations has an upcoming requirement searching for a Senior Geologist - Operations to lead the Underground Geology department. Sitting within a well resourced department, this role provides an opportunity for someone that thrives on leading a large and diverse team of talented Geologists.
The Senior Geologist reports to the Geology Superintendent, and the primary role is to control, direct and participate in all underground functions, demonstrated by accurate and timely geological delineation of ore to meet the Mining schedule.
The role is offered on family friendly 8:6 rotation working FIFO ex Perth.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Familiarity with all underground grade control and exploration methods and techniques.
- Drill data collection and validity, interpretation updates, QAQC, determining mineralisation controls and modelling the geology to develop mineral resources.
- Ensure detailed geological mapping is completed on time for all active development areas.
- High level planning, including drill scheduling, and working with mine planning with development and stope designs.
- Liaise with other departments as required regarding mine planning, operational execution, and metallurgy to assist with optimal mill performance.
- Ensure quarterly and 6 monthly resource versus reserve reconciliation reports are completed.
- Build and manage team as required including mentoring the less experienced staff, emphasising safety, high technical standards, and continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership to ensure that all geology & diamond drill personnel adhere to safety standards that exceed industry practice and any applicable legislative provisions.
- Complete project work and presentations to a professional standard as and when required.
- Manage and drive continues improvement projects as required by the Geology Management team.
Required skills and experience:
- Bachelor of Science majoring in Geology.
- Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
- 7+ years' experience in the mining industry (majority underground), in structurally controlled gold deposits.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute drill programs with minimal direction.
- Mining software skills in Vulcan or Datamine and Leapfrog.
- Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all geological and environmental tasks.
