FIFO From Melbourne or DIDO in Tasmania

- FIFO from Melbourne to Burnie, Launceston or Devonport
- DIDO from anywhere in TAS
- Return back to the same secured room at the shared accomodation each swing
- Travel in company time
The Role
Reporting to the Geotechnical Superintendent you will enjoy working in a close-knit team of experienced underground mining professionals. Your duties will include;-
- Coaching and developing of the Geotechnical Engineering Team in functions of rock mechanics and ground control
- Developing and maintaining standards relating to ground control, ground support, mining methods and extraction sequencing and ensuring that the site's Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP) is in line with the statutory and company guidelines.
- Identifying areas for business improvement and engaging stakeholders for optimisation
- Undertaking geotechnical analysis utilising Rock Mass Classification systems, empirical methods and numerical modelling, conducting formal reviews of excavation designs and performance focusing on Geotechnical issues
- Developing and maintaining a QA/QC system for ground support and backfill
Your Value
- An unwavering commitment to workplace safety
- Degree qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering or similar
- 5+ years' experience within underground mining
- Leadership and management experience
- Current drivers' license
- Promotion of an environment of continuous improvement and collaboration
- Sound knowledge of rock mechanics, numerical modelling, ground support systems and methods
- Proficiency in mine design and geotechnical software packages
