An exciting opportunity now exists with a Local Government department for a self-driven and experienced Senior Governance and Risk Officer. The purpose of this position is to support the organisation to ensure high quality and effective governance practices are in place, and effectively manage the organisations risks.

- Implementation and maintenance of corporate governance systems to ensure the organization operates effectively and efficiently and is acting within and complies with its legislative responsibilities.
- Manage and maintain delegations register and associated instruments of delegation.
- Manage and maintain the policy register.
- Manage and coordinate the internal audit function, including support for the Audit Committee.
- Support to the Complaints Officer (Deputy General Manager Corporate and Community), through providing advice and undertaking duties as requested.
- Maintain records and registers related to the organisations governance responsibilities.

- Tertiary qualifications in Governance, Risk, Business Management, or other relevant discipline.
- Recent experience in the areas of Governance and / or risk management
- Current Class C Driver Licence.
- Sound knowledge of legislation, standards and practices relating to:
-Risk and compliance
-Access to information
-Privacy
-Equal opportunity
- Local Government experience in a governance, risk and / or legal role (desirable).
- An understanding of the NSW Local Government Act 1993 and relevant regulations and guidelines (desirable).
