About the Role
The Governance Unit at Council is seeking a Senior Governance Officer to assist the Coordinator and Manager Governance to coordinate the major activities of the Governance team.
The primary objectives of the position will include:
- Managing, processing and providing leadership in the processing of Freedom of Information and Information Privacy requests;
- Contributing to the council meeting process and the subsequent production of Council meeting agendas and minutes;
- Assisting with producing Council’s CEO’s list and conducting other election activities during Council elections;
- Administering the Councillor Briefing Session process throughout Council; and
- Contributing to, and influencing the quality and good implementation of, good governance practices and legislative compliance throughout the organisation.
About You
To be successful you will need a qualification in civic administration or equivalent OR an alternative qualification with some subsequent relevant experience OR extensive relevant experience in Governance within the Local Government sector. You will also need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, experience in Freedom of Information legislation, an eye for detail, an interest in and understanding of the intricacies and changes involved in Governance practices in Local Government and a full understanding of the legislative framework in which Local Government operates.
