About the role:
The Senior Governance Officer has a critical coordinating role that enables the success of the College’s executive team and board governance.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Coordination of activities to ensure the effective operation of the office of the CEO
- High level governance and risk management functions for the College
- Executive support to the Board, President and CEO
- High level meeting management, providing input on governance matter, points of order and historical issues
- Administrative support for meetings, including development of agenda, meeting papers and action minutes
- Effective support to Board activities, timely submission of papers to Board and Committees
- Draft proposals and item summaries, ensure all documents are of high standard
- Oversee high level governance and compliance of all board related papers and documents (thorough understanding of Articles, Bylaws, AGM papers, etc.)
- Organize, coordinate and general maintenance of office operations at a high level, including strata committee liaison, management of reception and renovations
- Effective liaison with and support to the Board of Directors, Board committees and Office Bearers
- Previous experience in a similar role as a Governance Officer, or a role that has governance duties
- Experience working with Senior Committees, Boards and high-level Executives & Presidents
- Experience in a similar industry is highly desirable – Association, Membership, Peak Body, Education, Healthcare, NFP, etc.
- Demonstrated experience with governance and a solid, high level understanding of governance processes
- Experience supporting C-Suite highly desirable
- High level communication, written and verbal highly necessary, with strong experience preparing high-quality agendas, minutes, briefings, handbooks and policy
- Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Excellent interpersonal skills
