The UTS Corporate Governance team is recruiting for a Senior Governance Support Officer to take leadership of the support for several key University Committees and to provide policy, delegations and governance advice to the University.
About the Role
The Corporate Governance Team has responsibility for the functional areas of policy, governance, secretariat, elections, student misconduct and appeals, student complaints and UTS official publications.
The Senior Governance Support Officer will support Committees and provide governance advice. The role will also lead the administration of the university Delegations system, and will develop productive working relationships with senior staff.
The ideal candidate will be:
- An effective communicator: With excellent interpersonal, (oral and written) communication and personal presentation skills. You will have the ability to liaise and influence at all levels and with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Pragmatic and positive: You will be able to exercise initiative, think strategically, creatively and flexibly to approach problem solving across different areas.
- Experienced: With knowledge of committee support processes and also higher education desirable.
- Organised: You will be comfortable exercising initiative, sound judgement and prioritisation skills in an environment where there are competing priorities.
With examples, please outline in your covering letter or a separate document how you meet the following 8 key selection criteria points below:
- Experience providing Governance Support to Boards/Committees. Experience with a Finance type Committee will be viewed favourably.
- Sound business acumen (with knowledge of the operations of delegations viewed favourably).
- Excellent oral and written skills and an eye for detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence others and build productive working relationships at a senior level.
- Ability to problem solve, exercise initiative and make sound decisions.
- Excellent project management, time management and prioritisation skills.
- High level competence in the use of standard desk top software including word, excel and communication applications.
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience. Legal or finance qualifications will be viewed favourably.
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $91,254 to $111,394 pa (HEW 6/7)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
