Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our Sydney and Villawood teams! The Senior Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for overseeing and promoting the safety management systems and processes across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea, with a particular focus on Commercial and Office based teams across ANZ.
This role involves ensuring compliance with safety standards, providing guidance on safety matters to local teams, and coaching and developing our existing EHS teams. The successful candidate will stay informed on safety legislation, conduct safety audits, develop training programs, and foster a culture of safety within commercial, office, and field sales teams, whilst offering guidance and oversight of the Manufacturing facilities. They will also handle incident investigations, oversee Workers Compensation and return to work, liaise with regulatory bodies, monitor safety performance, and participate in emergency planning. The role requires effective resource management and a collaborative approach to sharing best practices across the region.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety management systems across the South Pacific region, including Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea (PNG), to ensure compliance with local and international safety standards.
- Oversee the safety of commercial operations, office environments, and field sales teams, ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe and responsible manner.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs tailored to the needs of commercial, office, and field sales teams, ensuring all employees are aware of their safety responsibilities.
- Provide expert guidance and support to local safety resources in the South Pacific, including Australia and PNG, ensuring they are equipped to manage safety effectively within their respective areas.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders on safety-related matters, representing the company's interests and ensuring transparent communication.
- Oversee workers compensation and return to work across the region, with responsibility for our Field Sales and office based teams.
- Act as a coach and mentor to the Villawood and Lae EHS teams, fostering their professional development and enhancing their ability to manage site-specific safety challenges.
- Stay abreast of relevant safety legislation, regulations, and best practices within the South Pacific region, and advise the organisation on necessary actions to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into all aspects of business operations, promoting a culture of safety and proactive risk management.
- Manage and investigate safety incidents, compiling reports and corrective action to prevent future occurrences.
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, setting targets for continuous improvement and driving initiatives to achieve these goals.
- Manage and allocate safety resources effectively, ensuring that all regions within the South Pacific have adequate support to maintain high safety standards.
- Facilitate the sharing of best practices and lessons learned across different sites and regions to foster a collaborative approach to safety management.
Required (Education, Knowledge required, Language skills, etc) :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Work Health and Safety or a related field
- 5-10 years’ experience required in a safety role
- Experience in manufacturing
