Exciting Role- Temporary, Full-time, Brisbane CBD | Provide direct support to Hospital and Health Services with HIM systems and processes as well as leading a variety of initiatives across the State to improve the governance and discipline of Health Information Management

The role  
 Reporting to the State Director Health Information Management, the role entails supporting Hospital and Health Services in monitoring and meeting hospital activity targets for the financial year, providing strategic advice to hospital executives, including Chief Financial Officers and Chief Executive Officers, and offering guidance to Directors of HIM and Clinical Coding. The position involves leading statewide initiatives to enhance data capture and reporting, establish standards, and improve efficiency in Health Information Management (HIM) practices. Utilizing technology to streamline Health Information workflows is crucial. The role represents the Healthcare Purchasing and Funding Branch on State and National Committees, offering insights on healthcare funding arrangements, classifications, and terminologies.

The incumbent will provide direct supervision and support to the Health Information Management Students. Responsibilities include travelling around the state and providing backfill for key HIM roles, performing various HIM tasks such as clinical coding, data validation, and medical records management, and collaborating with the clinical coding solution project for a statewide coding platform implementation. The role also involves chairing working groups for the State HIM and Clinical Coding team and Statewide HIM-Clinical Coding Network, supporting statewide workforce initiatives, engaging in clinical liaison programs, drafting discussion papers and reports, and leading initiatives to optimize data capture for revenue maximization under the national activity-based funding model. Additionally, the position oversees quality improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of inpatient coded data for clinical safety monitoring.

The successful person
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience working in Health Information Management roles. You will also have demonstrated ability to lead quality improvement projects and initiatives across an organisation. 

In addition to this, you will have demonstrated exceptional interpersonal communication skills and ability to form networks and professional relationships, demonstrated evidence of taking initiative that drives positive within a complex organisation, and demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and professional standards.
