Housing Services Officers play a vital role in supporting the delivery of client-centered services to individuals and families who seek housing assistance or reside in public housing.
Housing Services Officers are part of a network of community workers and organisations that share the responsibility for working with vulnerable people to promote and support their wellbeing. Based in offices across the Western Melbourne Area, Housing Advice and Assistance Team, the role undertakes a range of tasks relating to the provision of housing advice and assistance that may include:
- providing support and information on services
- identifying and assessing Victorians' housing needs and their eligibility for services
- providing assistance and support to clients in applying for social housing or bond loans.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Assess client's needs and provide comprehensive advice on housing options from a range of established policy, procedures and standards.
- Make appropriate referrals to internal or external support service providers in order to assist clients with their short-term housing needs.
- Use influence, negotiation and logical persuasion skills in dealing with clients and stakeholders on all housing matters.
