A highly successful fuel retail convenience and distribution business, with a dynamic culture and significant growth on the horizon are looking to appoint a key role to monitor and drive safety at bulk fuel terminals across Australia.
About the role:
The role coordinates all HSE & Compliance of the Terminal facilities across Australia with respect to dangerous goods, major hazard facility and environmental legislation.
This is achieved through the design of systems and work processes to be followed by terminal operations and maintenance personnel.
Specifically, the role holder is responsible for ensuring that Terminal operations have robust management systems, controls and assurance processes in place to perform its legislative and regulatory duties, including its duty of care as an employer.
The Senior HSE Advisor works closely with managers and staff of each terminal to ensure that the terminal management systems are in place and compliant across the terminal sites.
This position may require inter-state travel.
Role Expectations and Outcomes:
- Development of the terminals safety management systems.
- Management and coordination of Document management system, Lead and Coordinate Management of Change Systems.
- Development and monitoring of the Contractor Management System.
- Development and monitoring of the Maintenance Management System.
- Develop & implement risk based environmental management systems to ensure terminal operations are compliant with legislative requirements.
- Submission of annual environmental reports to the relevant regulators
- Dangerous goods and Health and Safety Compliance - Risk assessments, Assurance audits, KPI reporting etc.
- Safety Management Plan – Coordinate, review and update Environment Management Plan.
- Degree or higher qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and/or Environmental discipline.
- Experience within the petroleum or chemical industry and experience managing Major Hazard Facility Safety Cases.
- Industrial shutdown and maintenance experience is an advantage.
- Well-developed internal & external stakeholder communication and relationship management skills.
- Thorough knowledge of OHS, environmental legislation, safety and risk management.
- Proven capability in managing health, safety and environmental issues at a national level.
- Experience in managing legislative compliance requirements at a major hazard facility.
- Current Driver’s License
- Ability to undertake multiple tasks within challenging time constraints.
- Working well within a team and using decision making and play to strengths when working alone.
- Having skills and expertise to seek out answers from peers when needed to enable responses to be made in a timely manner.
