Senior Media and Communications Advisor
Permanent, Full-time (38 hours per week)
Salary: Band 6 - $90,571 - $99,983 + superannuation
Role includes an RDO
We’re looking for someone to lead our media management and to write engaging speeches for our mayor and councillors. Perfectly suited to someone from a journalism background or with extensive media management experience, and who loves crafting words on a diverse range of topics.
What you’ll be working on:
- Handling all incoming media enquiries
- Pitching proactive stories that promote Council’s services, programs, and initiatives
- Writing speeches for our mayor, councillors, and executive leadership team
- Writing a fortnightly councillor column
- Planning and executing communications campaigns for teams across the organisation
What you need to succeed:
- Tertiary qualifications in journalism, communications, or public relations, and/or substantial relevant experience in a media, journalism, or communications role
- Excellent writing skills and champion of plain English principles
- In-depth knowledge of the media landscape
- Strong time management and risk management skills
- Availability for after-hours and weekend work on a rostered basis during significant media events
