Our Rare Earths deposit in Mt Weld, Western Australia, is acknowledged as one of the highest-grade Rare Earths mine in the world and we operate the world’s largest single Rare Earths processing plant in Malaysia – so you are joining a unique team! As a team member you will be contributing to the sustainable supply of rare earths metals which are used in oil & gas, electric vehicles, and wind turbines.
Lynas is embarking on an expansion in Western Australia, and we have an opportunity for a driven Senior HSE Advisor wanting to join us on our journey. Lynas recently announced an approximately $500M project to expand the capacity at the Mt Weld mine and concentration plant to meet accelerating market demand for rare earth minerals. In this exciting position, you will play an integral role in developing, coordinating, supervising, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating health, safety and environmental (HSE) systems for the Mt Weld Expansion Project. This is a fixed term 12 month contract, fly in/fly out (FIFO) position from Perth to Mt Weld on a 2/1 roster.
As a highly valued member of the Lynas Rare Earths team, you will:
- Treat HSE compliance as a priority.
- Contributing to continuous improvement by implementing and maintaining procedures and safe systems of work for the Expansion Project.
- Ensuring Project Contractor deliverables (CRAW and associated Project HSE Management plans/ SWMS are a high standard and fit for purpose).
- Undertake or Assist with Contractor reviews, mobilisation’s and HSE Audits.
- Interpret safety data, incident investigation and injury management cases.
- Monitor compliance with the Project HSE plan and Environmental requirements.
- Undertake workplace inspections and audits of the workplace to ensure contractor compliance with the project procedures and legislation.
What you will bring to the team:
- Considerable experience within a similar role in the mining/construction/civil/ SMP or E&I industry (Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety roles).
- Strong understanding of HSE management and a positive approach to implementation and execution of pragmatic management systems.
- Have a positive attitude with the ability to self-motivate, plan and manage work programs.
- Demonstrated initiative and creative problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability, flexibility and solutions-based mind set.
- Intermediate MS Office skills.
- Keep abreast of legislative changes and industry trends to ensure continuous improvement in HSE practices.
- An ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing competing priorities supporting multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications and/or Skills:
- Relevant HSE/OHS qualification (Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or higher)
- White card
- WorkSafe high risk license (desirable)
- Leadership, team building, and negotiation skills
- Knowledge of the online reporting systems utilized by the DMIRS
- Qualifications and experience in conducting incident investigations – ICAM preferred.
- Experience with Auditing
- Ability to conduct CRAW reviews with both internal and external stakeholders.
- C class manual driver’s license, and comfortable with driving on gravel roads
