About the Team
Our People & Culture (P&C) Advisory team are a key group within the wider People & Culture directorate primarily tasked with supporting leaders and employees across our Head Office, Stores, and Distribution Centres for a variety of employment lifecycle needs post onboarding.
Our core work includes – providing tailored advice and coaching on performance and conduct matters, investigating grievances, risk mitigation and compliance, contributing to the development of leaders, promoting a healthy work environment, along with interpretation and ensuring the correct application of policies, procedures, and industrial instruments.
About the Role
A full time role with occasional travel required, the Senior HR / P&C Advisor will oversee a set portfolio across the QLD region. The Senior HR / P&C Advisor will report into a dedicated HR / P&C Business Partner. The role is responsible for working in partnership with the HR / P&C Business Partner for ensuring all matters arising in the portfolio, or as assigned, are suitably prioritised and attended to in a timely manner.
The day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:
- Fostering excellent rapport and developing productive working relationships with all key stakeholders in the portfolio and beyond
- Being a key point of contact for leaders and employees, providing information and guidance on a range of people and employment matters
- Supporting and coaching leaders in the response, management and investigation of employee grievances and other workplace matters, including the appropriate application of industrially sound disciplinary outcomes, and timely implementation of any local or organisational continuous improvement arising from any learnings
- Drafting formal correspondence from leaders or the organisation to employees
- Securely storing and maintaining accurate records relating to people management and other key employment matters
- Advising stakeholders on matters requiring interpretation of employment legislation, company policies and procedures, along with Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve P&C practice, process and service delivery methods.
About you
We’re seeking a degree-qualified (HR or similar) and suitably skilled P&C professional with a passion for supporting people and a track record of success providing outstanding operational and strategic P&C advice. You will also have experience developing leaders, and whilst comfortable following process, you’ll also have the courage to take a path less travelled for the right outcome.
Whilst you will be given all the support you need to be successful, our ideal candidate for this role will be sufficiently experienced to hit the ground running and will be comfortable working with a diverse group of people managers with a diverse range of needs and priorities. The successful applicant will have the following:
- Demonstrated experience as a Senior HR / P&C Advisor or several years’ experience as an Advisor / Generalist, with a deep knowledge and capability in the employee relations space
- A proactive approach to work with the self-motivation and drive to achieve, backed-up with grit and resilience to see tasks through to completion
- Proficient knowledge and interpretation of employment legislation and Modern Awards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised and with an attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and ensure no ball gets dropped
- The ability and confidence to influence colleagues and the decisions of senior stakeholders
- Strong tech skills and digital literacy
- Experience in retail, pharmaceutical or other service-based industries ideal but not essential
