The Senior Hydrogeologist will be a Subject Matter Expert in the Hydrogeology Projects team. The Hydrogeology Projects Team undertakes strategic planning for the development of future iron ore mines in Western Australia's Pilbara Region and overseas. The Team aims to develop water supply and mine dewatering strategies that address both mine planning and environment protection requirements.
You will augment our existing Senior Water Team leadership and undertake groundwater assessments and provide technical advice, groundwater management support/guidance and review. You will assist the Principal - Hydrogeology Projects in providing ongoing support and development of a small team of Hydrogeologists. You will engage closely with our hydrologists, water engineers, mine planners, environmental scientists and others in the business to ensure that overall project outcomes are achieved.
The position requires excellent communication, time management and technical skills to ensure robust hydrogeological assessments are completed on time and are effectively communicated to the business.
This role is based in Perth with occasional travel to Project sites as required. This role is for applicants residing in or willing to permanently relocate to Western Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and mentor a small team of Hydrogeologists
- Provide leadership during the scoping and execution of hydrogeological studies
- Effectively deliver technical hydrogeological assessments and groundwater reporting to meet business objectives and regulatory requirements
- Assess data and knowledge gaps and undertake risk assessments to support project planning and effective decision-making
- Support environmental approval processes, commissioning, and ultimate operation of Projects
- Ensure projects are aligned with international best practice requirements and standards and with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- A degree or an equivalent tertiary qualification in Geology, Hydrogeology or Geosciences, MSc in Hydrogeology preferred
- 10+ years' experience in mining hydrogeology
- Professional registration preferred
- Advanced report writing and research skills
- Effective communication and time management skills
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and negotiations
