Responsible for defining strategy, leading the development and maintenance of technology standards across multiple technology disciplines, and for developing robust, flexible, and supportable infrastructure solutions for the Westpac Group.
The Senior Middleware Infrastructure Specialist - Middleware Integration Evergreen, is a part of the Infrastructure and Service Management business unit which helps drive a business partner centric service delivery model with teams structured around how services are consumed.
This role will work closely with Middleware technologies, specifically IBM MQ, DataPower, ACE and will include performing the following-
- Utilise Enterprise Release Management principles to “obtain evergreen state for Integration technologies.
- Utilise Agile framework to plan, schedule and execute ongoing currency “evergreen” state for Middleware products within the organisation.
- Maintain and improve governance reporting of evergreen status.
- Provides expert technical assistance and insights for effective management of Middleware Infrastructure service (MQ, MQIPT, IIB/ACE, DataPower) requirements.
- Provides and ensures effective technical governance over services delivered by partners, vendors, and third-party suppliers on a day-to-day basis.
- Provides subject matter expertise and technical advice regarding end-to-end incident and recovery management, problem resolution and service continuity.
- Keeping focus on Infrastructure & Operations level priorities, engages with partners to jointly review service requests, assesses incidents and problems, and leads the diagnosis and resolution of complex technical issues on day-to-day basis.
- Provides expert technical assistance for governance and planning of major proposed changes to ensure successful implementation and transition of Middleware infrastructure changes.
- Supports in evaluation and review of Middleware technical design by ensuring that design is innovative and adheres to Middleware Infrastructure architecture standards.
- Design, Develop, Implement and operationalise repeat operational activities using orchestration toolset.
- Assists with the development of Middleware solution designs on an as needed basis.
- Provides expert technical inputs in the design of backup and recovery procedures and ensures partners, vendors and third-party suppliers develop, document, test and implement effective disaster recovery plans.
- Provides effective and expert technical support in ensuring that agreed standards and processes within Westpac are adhered to and fulfil regulatory obligations on day-to-day basis.
- Provides active support in the formulation of Middleware Infrastructure Patterns and standards for effective Middleware service strategy and lifecycle planning and, in the delivery, and execution of an effective environment planning strategy.
- Proactively establishes, engages, and maintains a “One Team” mindset with partners, vendors, and third-party supplier to deliver a service end to end.

What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you will need excellent and verbal communication skills, strong stakeholder management experience and be self-driven. In addition to this, your skills may include:
- Experience and knowledge of Middleware technologies including IBM MQ, DataPower and ACE.
- Extensive experience in a large and complex IT infrastructure environment incorporating planning, implementation, operational management, configuration, and maintenance.
- Good general Infrastructure knowledge and skills including RHEL/AIX/Windows servers, networking and Active Directory.
- Knowledge and some experience in Cloud infrastructure.
- Expert knowledge in one or more relevant infrastructure domains and supporting Monitoring, Log Insight tools such as (Splunk, AppD).
- Good understanding of ITIL principles.
- Knowledge of DevOps with a strong understanding of DevOps automation capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience in managing Agile workload practices with Scrum Master certification highly regarded.
- Demonstrated Experience in Enterprise Release Mgt within an Infrastructure Technology environment.
- Proven Project management skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in IT or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Relevant technical certifications such as CCIE, MCSE etc. desirable.
