In support of Fortescue's strong focus on green energy and carbon neutrality targets, Fortescue WAE Heavy Industry is the incubator for the development of green technologies and pioneering solutions which are integral to realising Fortescue's decarbonisation targets, whilst being equally relevant in the broader global market. Based at our Redcliffe or Hazelmere facilities and reporting to the Principal Engineer Industrial Automation - Heavy Industry, we are searching for an experienced Instrumentation Engineer to work on our heavy industry decarbonization and green energy products/programs.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and consolidate all instrumentation used for the product (includes process, fire and gas and electrical power instrumentation).
- Develop inspection, calibration and function test schedules for instrumentation including those used in safety systems and hazardous areas.
- Assist product teams to specify and select suitable instrumentation (sensors, transmitters, etc.) and final elements (solenoids, relays, contactors, valves, etc.).
- Develop and build up an instrumentation database for the product development.
- Develop instrumentation calibration and certification capability for the products internally or with external third parties.
- Manage calibration and inspection test records with the workshop instrumentation technicians and electricians.
- Work in close conjunction with other engineering disciplines, product/program teams and workshop teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Instrumentation/Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics or related field of study.
- 10+ years' experience with Field Instrumentation.
- Knowledge of Hazardous Area and Functional Safety Standards.
- Functional Safety qualification from TÜV/Exida or similar preferred.
- Knowledge of various types of instrumentation and communication protocols (both Analog and Digital).
- Knowledge of basic control systems and electrical interfaces.
- Experience working with hazardous gas/liquid environment (Hydrogen, Ammonia etc.) is highly advantageous.
- Experience working with automotive industry is highly advantageous.
- Experience working on renewable energy projects highly advantageous.
- Experience with industrial and automotive communication protocols; Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profinet, Profibus DP, CAN, HART, Fieldbus, etc. is highly advantageous.
