About the role:
As the Senior Internal Communication Officer, you will:
- Support the team leader and manager to plan and deliver the Internal Communication and engagement strategy, in line with the department's strategic objectives.
- Develop and implement Internal Communication strategies and provide guidance and support to departmental leaders and staff in creating effective messages and materials.
- Plan, manage and deliver key internal events for staff and leaders.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels across the department to promote employee engagement and continuous improvement.
- Actively monitor Internal Communication metrics to maximise effectiveness of engagement.
- Contribute to a positive and safe working environment for staff, encouraging commitment, skills development, professional growth, and continuous improvement directed towards the achievement of the department's goals and objectives.
- Maintain current knowledge of latest trends and best practice in the area of communications.
- Other duties as directed and required.
- Proven experience in Internal Communication roles, preferably within a government or large organisational context.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and communication channels.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate positive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- A tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related discipline would be highly regarded.
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as vision6 or mail chimp would be highly regarded.
