Our client is a leading specialist boutique law firm providing advice on intellectual property, corporate and commercial law and litigation to the entertainment industry. They boast an impressive client base comprising of prominent Australian and international brands, corporations and individuals, as well as Federal and State Government institutions. The firm is highly recommended by the international review guides for their specialist expertise.
About the Role:
- You will provide advice across a range of commercial and contentious matters including the acquisition, management and sale of businesses and intellectual property assets, managing and exploiting brands and reputation, IP infringement matters, software development services contracting, and contractual disputes.
- You will work with a wide array of corporate and individual clients, including digital service providers, multi-national rights management and music companies, film producers and production funders, celebrities, brands, artists, government institutions and rights administration and collecting societies.
- The role will involve significant autonomy, carriage of matters, and close engagement with our clients, particularly on the team’s commercial matters.
- You will work alongside a supportive Partner who is a recognised expert in entertainment law.
- Adaptability and commercial acumen are key requirements of the role as there is often work across teams in the firm and you will be exposed to a wide variety of work.
About you:
- You have at least 5 years PQE in a large, mid-sized or an exemplary boutique, Australian firm
- Excellent skills and substantial experience in commercial or corporate law. Experience in privacy and data law, media law and intellectual property is highly desirable, but not essential
- Excellent analytical and commercial capabilities, and extensive communication, drafting and negotiating skills and experience
- A strong interest in the digital, entertainment, creative and cultural industries
- A desire to work in a small, specialist and collegiate environment
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills and the ability to effectively supervise and delegate
