This unique role provides in-house legal services to a government agency and contains a large variety of work and challenges. Lawyers in our practice bill 5 chargeable hours per day, enjoy a 36 ¼ hour work week, have access to training and excellent legal resources as well as mentoring and development from a cadre of experienced lawyers. This role would suit a lawyer who is capable of producing work quickly, is technically sound, and wishes to get exposure to an in-house environment within a practice that deals primarily with government, administrative, succession and elder law work.
The successful candidate will be required to provide legal advice to and advocacy for the government agency that they represent.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- experience in some of the areas of law outlined above
- experience working for a busy law firm that performs various types of legal work
- excellent communication and legal research skills
- the ability to generate work as a primary producer (knowledge of Microsoft Office for example)
- a strong sense of professionalism and ethics, with a can-do attitude.

Government salary benefits apply including superannuation, flexible working arrangements and access to accrued time off, including the ability to undertake some of the work from home (which is subject to work performance, office needs and compliance with policies). The annual base salary package will be commensurate with the candidate's experience however will range between $105,218 and $113,167 depending on the candidate (plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 12.75% of the annual salary).
