About the role
Located within the Corporate Communications Branch, you will manage a team of talented Community Engagement and internal communication specialists.
In this role you will provide strategic direction and timely expert advice regarding internal communication techniques to further develop the function and platforms including the Intranet and Viva Engage.
You will also manage robust and inclusive best practice Community Engagement, identifying opportunities to broaden the reach of Council’s engagement through gaining greater community input into decision making. It is essential you can forge and maintain collaborative relationships with key interest groups and the community.
You will be a creative and innovative leader with strong stakeholder management skills, including during a crisis. You will develop a driven and empowered team and can translate complex information into clear and simple concepts that meet stakeholder needs.
What we’re looking for:
- tertiary qualification in communications, Community Engagement (or similar) or equivalent experience.
- demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams – including promoting a positive learning and growth culture for the team, where knowledge and new ideas are welcomed.
- ability to foster and maintain solid stakeholder relationships with internal and external customers.
- ability to lead under pressure within a sensitive political environment and confidently manage reputational risk whilst maintaining positive working relationships.
- demonstrated superior communication skills, with the ability to remain impartial and communicate with influence on sensitive/complex matters.
