The Commercial, Property & Technology Branch advises government clients in relation to a wide range of transactions with the private sector and other government agencies. Many of these arrangements involve substantial financial commitments by government, and the provision of significant infrastructure or services to clients, which include departments and statutory authorities.
About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for an eager and enthusiastic Senior Legal Assistant to join our Commercial, Property & Technology branch as part of the legal support team to provide comprehensive legal and administrative support to a team of solicitors and conveyancers.
Each day can bring something different and varied, extending from providing support to senior lawyers, to working with conveyancers in supporting major government transactions, and the opportunity to train and develop junior legal support staff along with opportunities for your own training and skill development.
We are looking for an experienced administrator who is calm under pressure, is able to manage multiple stakeholders, has the ability to prioritise tasks using sound-judgement and with excellent written and verbal skills with a variety of stakeholders at all levels. This role requires a high level attention to detail and is suited to someone who proactively seeks opportunities to create better efficiencies in the workplace, both at a branch and organisational level.
Prior experience working as a Senior Legal Assistant in a professional environment or equivalent administrative role with demonstrated transferable skills is required.
Skills and experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience in mentoring junior staff and colleagues
- Experience in working with large documents, specifically dealing with formatting/corruption issues
- Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat are highly desirable
- Confident in providing high level legal administrative assistance to multiple solicitors
- Knowledge of legal terminology and an ability to conduct title, company and property searches is desirable
- Self-starter who takes initiative and has the ability to operate autonomously
- High attention to detail with a commitment to service excellence
