Our in-house Litigation Legal team currently has an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic litigation lawyers to join the collaborative, passionate and results driven team as the Senior Legal Officer.
In your role as Senior Legal Officer, you will be responsible for conducting and overseeing a diverse range of high-profile civil litigation, regulatory litigation and criminal matters. Our matters make a difference to the people and communities across NSW and are frequently subject of media and parliamentary commentary.
With the motivation and ability to learn and apply legal skills which are broader than those required in private practice. You’ll have the chance to practice your advocacy skills and be deeply involved in all aspects of the cases you’re working on, while at the same time being supported and mentored.
This role will be suited to an experienced litigation lawyer, keen to utilise their strong analytical skills and intellectual rigour to provide expert litigation and advisory services to the many Government Agencies that form part of the Department and assist to resolve disputes spanning many areas of law.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced litigation lawyer with a drive and passion for disputes work. Undertaking a wide range of tasks with often tight or competing timeframes, the role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, enthusiasm, and a commitment to providing high quality advice and services. Your communication and interpersonal skills are highly developed, and your strong stakeholder management skills provide you the confidence and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with a variety of stakeholders and team members.

Essential Requirements
- Admitted or qualified for admission as a Solicitor or Barrister in the Supreme Court of NSW and hold, or be eligible to hold, a NSW Practicing Certificate
Key knowledge and experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Planning law
- Environmental law
- Natural Resources law
- Contract and commercial law
- Administrative law
- Compliance and regulatory law
- Prosecutions
- General litigation
