• Salary Range $145,446.63 – 157,431.86 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation plus 3.5% award increase from July 2024

About the role:
We are seeking a dynamic leader and experienced accountant to undertake the role of Senior Management Accountant in an energetic and diverse financial services team. This role will manage and lead the Finance and Tax team, manage Council's financial statutory reporting requirements, including the Financial Statements and external audit program, work collaboratively with other leaders in Financial Services and provide technical advice and support to the organisation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:
- Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive job related experience in a senior accounting role.
- Experience in budget development, monitoring and reporting in a large multi-disciplinary organisation.
- Ability to provide expertise in the accounting field to assist in complying with relevant legislative requirements and to satisfy internal financial reporting needs.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures, particularly the Local Government Code of Accounting Practice and Australian Accounting Standards.
- Logical, focussed and innovative approach in developing, analysing, improving all systems within the Financial Services area to provide effective and efficient solutions.
- Extensive knowledge of computers and software applications such as spread sheets and databases.
- Sound working knowledge of various tax related legislation.
- Knowledge of issues affecting local government and participation in established industry networks.
- Current Class C drivers licence.
- Skills and experience to provide motivation, leadership, mentoring and support of staff members and to plan and coordinate activities.
- Demonstrated capacity to think strategically and to identify and recommend improvements to policy, procedure, processes and systems.
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, including high level engagement, and team management and leadership skills with the ability to build relationships with staff, customers and stakeholders.
