National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a unique opportunity for a Senior Asset Management Officer to work as part of the team in the Assets & Infrastructure Branch.
About the role
The role will contribute to the asset management maturity and capacity of the organisation and ensure that public assets are effectively managed and utilised to achieve government and organisational outcomes. You’ll manage a team to deliver best-practice plant and fleet management across a broad portfolio of owned and leased assets and be relied upon to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide fit-for-purpose mobile assets that support delivery of all park management objectives. The role also has responsibility for:
- Providing expert advice to management and stakeholders on mobile asset management.
- Preparing budget estimates and coordinating procurement and tendering processes related to mobile assets.
- Implementing governance arrangements to ensure cost, time and quality of planning, approvals and implementation occur; identify risks to effect delivery of projects and initiatives and develop, communicate and implement project risk management plans and strategies to mitigate risk.
About you
Your expertise will be invaluable in safeguarding the organisation's assets, optimising costs, and maintaining compliance with accounting and regulatory standards and policies. To be successful in this role you will have a proven track record in mobile asset management and be a natural collaborator working between operational teams and corporate leadership responsible for managing and integrating asset lifecycle activities by balancing cost, risk and performance to meet government objectives. You will have demonstrated experience producing mobile asset data and information that supports decision-making and continual improvement. You will be both strategic and tactical and be comfortable being the local lead for the development of mobile asset management plans and the use and development of the corporate asset management systems to improve the quality of data and consistent use.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in the leadership of asset management and in the use of asset management systems including extensive experience in the management of staff or contractors.
- Demonstrated experience in applying financial and/or accounting principles to assets and their lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated experience in the establishment, administration, management, monitoring and financial reporting on complex asset management contracts and projects.
- Demonstrated understanding of the legislation applying to protected area management, contract management, Work, Health and Safety, construction standards and environmental plan.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the application of safe work practices and risk management.
