Senior Manager Role – Prices, Wages and Labour Section, Economic Analysis
Economic Analysis Department is seeking a Senior Manager for the Prices, Wages and Labour Section (PWL). This is an exciting and challenging time to be joining the PWL Section and the Economic Analysis Department. If you want to play a key role in assessing and forecasting inflation and labour market activity in Australia at a pivotal time, this is for you. You and your team will help shape the Bank’s assessment of economic developments presented to the Governors and the Board and communicated to a large public audience in the Statement on Monetary Policy.
The Role
As part of the senior leadership team in Economic Analysis, you will oversee the direction of analysis, forecasts and research in PWL Section, while leading and developing individuals and teams to achieve goals and deliver outcomes. Leading a team of 2 managers and 6 analysts you will:
Effectively plan, implement and monitor progress of a strategic agenda of analytical and other section output in line with priorities of the Department and the Group.
Coach and provide development opportunities for your team to achieve the objectives of the section, and contribute to the broader goals of the Department and Bank.
Provide economic and/or technical advice that supports the monetary policy decisions of the Board and contributes to the Bank and Economic Group meeting its strategic goals.
Communicate effectively to relevant internal and external decision-makers, stakeholders and other audiences in support of the Bank’s functions and objectives.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a passionate and experienced manager to join the section and department leadership team. You will have experience in leading, developing and motivating a high-performing team, and coaching team members, as well as demonstrated experience with the execution of strategy.
Given the nature of the work in PWL, you will ideally have:
the ability to lead a team to produce high-quality briefings and analytical analysis on a wide range of topics, using both macroeconomic and microeconomic techniques, often with limited time;
strong organisational skills and the ability to judge what issues are most important and to reprioritise quickly as circumstances change;
experience in analysing and/or forecasting labour market, inflation and/or economic activity;
strong stakeholder engagement skills together with an ability to work collaboratively with other sections in the Bank and communicate effectively with peers at government agencies and data providers.
