Join us at Orica as the Senior Manager – Gas and Energy, where you'll take the helm of Category Management for Energy.
Based at either our Global; Head Offices in Melbourne, or our Queensland Head Offices in Brisbane or Newcastle or Perth, you'll be at the forefront of developing Orica gas procurement strategy, energy category planning and sourcing execution activities within our region, collaborating closely with our Corporate Development team and Government Relations.
Your mission? To ensure Orica achieves the best strategic outcomes, striking that perfect balance of leverage from volume and scale. This pivotal leadership role calls for expertise in market analysis, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration to drive optimal outcomes for our organization.

- Develop and execute comprehensive Category Strategies for our gas procurement and the broader energy portfolio, working hand in hand with Manufacturing, Strategy, and Government Relations teams.
- Dive deep into market analysis, providing expert insights to uncover both short and long-term opportunities and risks within each Energy Category.
- Take the lead in negotiations with external suppliers to ensure Orica's stance is commercially robust and legally sound, ultimately delivering the best outcomes for our organization.
- Keep a keen eye on internal and external factors that could sway risks and opportunities within the relevant Energy Category.
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Sales & Marketing teams to ensure our category strategies seamlessly align with their operations and goals.
- Serve as Orica's ambassador in external forums, engaging with industry bodies, government regulators, and network administrators.
- Role ideally suited to individuals with a minimum of (10) years’ experience in a similar energy management or supply role, with a proven track record of driving impactful initiatives in a corporate environment.
- Demonstrated deep insight into the Australian gas market and have led strategic negotiations of large gas contracts as part of an overall energy strategy.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, science, business or similar (post-graduate highly regarded)
- Strong understanding of energy markets, technologies, and regulatory frameworks, with experience in developing and implementing energy management strategies.
- Formidable negotiation prowess, backed by years of hands-on experience in contract negotiation.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
