The Role
As the Senior Manager, Energy Security + Emergency Management, you will be working in an advisory and leadership position within the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) across the Energy Security + Emergency Management portfolios relating to electricity, gas, liquid fuels, water and wastewater.
You will be a key advisor by providing subject matter advice, intelligence, guidance, and direction to the Director Energy Operations/Energy and Utility Services Functional Area Coordinator (EUSFAC), Jurisdictional Security Systems Coordinator (JSSC) and other Departmental executives on matters relating to Energy Security and Emergency Management, including but not limited to fuel supply chains, significant network outages, near-term supply and demand challenges and network or system constraints.
You will lead the coordination with energy and utility businesses, Emergency Management Functional Areas and Emergency Services Organisations regarding the prevention, preparedness, response and recovery phases of Emergency Management and Energy Security related programs.
You will be the facilitator between federal, state and private organisations, and coordinate the mitigation of, response and recovery of significant energy and utility service supply interruptions which impact NSW.
Day to day responsibilities include:
- Leading the Energy Security + Emergency Management unit in undertaking their function as the support team to meet legislated responsibilities
- Hold the Deputy Energy and Utility Services Functional Area Coordinator role to lead, manage and coordinate the ongoing work programs and streams of the portfolio
- Be a key advisor on matters relating to Energy Security and Emergency Management including fuel supply chains and significant network outages
- Facilitate the response of energy net work businesses, emergency service organisations and functional areas to the risk of potential major energy and utility supply interruptions
- Other duties as required
DCCEEW’s head office is based in Parramatta with the team having hybrid work arrangements.

The Energy Operations Branch is a unique, forward facing unit consisting of various energy services and programs to ensure the safety, reliability and availability of energy and utilities to NSW communities.
About You
The successful candidate will exhibit:
- Strong experience within the electricity sector, specifically the generation and/or transmission operational environment
- Experience in the gas sector as an operational professional will also be highly regarded
- Strong experience in leading a high performing team
- Exposure to energy and/or utility sector incident and emergency response methodology a bonus
- Understanding of NSW Emergency Management arrangements is beneficial but not necessary
- 35 hours per week plus FlexTime
- Parramatta Location with hybrid working from home and DCCEEW office support
