The Risk and Assurance Division’s mission is to support UOW’s ability to deliver on its strategic plan by ensuring risks are identified and managed appropriately, and by ensuring risk controls are tested effectively through the Internal Audit program. The Unit also supports the completion of Business Continuity Plans across the University and the adherence to legislation through its compliance program.
The purpose of this position is to lead the University’s Internal Audit function and provide an integrated business assurance capability to the University and when required, its controlled entities. This includes evaluating, through the University’s Internal Audit function, the design adequacy and operating effectiveness of controls in place to mitigate risks associated with key University activities; and facilitating compliance with required legislation and other external obligations.
The position plays a key role in educating stakeholders in relation to Internal Audit and promotes the use of the relevant policies and procedures designed to improve the university’s controls and operational effectiveness. It has responsibility for ensuring the stakeholders of the organization understand and comply with the Internal Audit charter in addition to the risk management framework and practices.
