About the OrganisationKimberley Aboriginal Medical Services LTD (KAMS) is a well-established regional Aboriginal community controlled health service, founded in 1986, which provides centralised advocacy and resource support for 6 independent member services, as well as providing direct clinical services in a further 6 remote Aboriginal communities across the region.KAMS has successfully delivered high-quality, accessible comprehensive primary health care services over its 22 years of operation and has provided innovation and national leadership in areas such as health information management and evidence based best practice in primary health care.The Kimberley region is located in the northern part of Western Australia and covers about 421,000 square kilometres. The Kimberley has only three towns with a population of more than 2,000 (Broome, Derby and Kununurra), and the total population is around 37,000. In addition to the sealed Route 1 which runs along the southern part of the area, the unsealed Gibb River Road runs through the heart of the region from Derby to the highway near Kununurra. Access to much of the region is by dirt road, air or sea.
About the OpportunityKAMS now has an opportunity for a Senior
Manager Social and Emotional Wellbeing to join their friendly, multidisciplinary team in Broome WA, on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Executive Manager Mental Health you will be responsible for managing the operations of the KAMS Mental Health and
Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team. This includes managing the activities, budgets and deliverables for the various funding contracts under which this team operates.The role will provide Mental Health and SEWB clinical leadership and supervision, support clinical governance and risk management processes. The role will also be required to implement and manage quality improvement change projects required to ensure the teams deliver against the KPIs of the funding contracts.Under the guidance of the Executive Manager Mental Health, provide leadership to enhance the operational effectiveness and accessibility of our services for Aboriginal people, as well as optimising working relationships with a range of service providers and stakeholders.The incumbent is also:
- Accountable to demonstrate achievement of performance objectives and ensuring they are aligned to KAMS Strategic Plan
- Accountable for the performance management of direct reporting staff
- Expected to collaborate effectively with KAMS remote and clinical services, member services, other mental health service providers to enhance services, quality and ensure continuous improvement
The ideal candidate will be have a tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Aboriginal Health, Mental Health, Health Service Management, Adult Education, Community Services (or related field), and eligibility for professional registration with the relevant registering body in Australia. You’ll have at least 3+ years’ relevant experience in management roles in a service industry preferably Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Community Services or Adult Education related.Ideally, you would have previous Management role within an Aboriginal Medical Service and previous leadership role in a mental health or
