Role Summary:
The Senior Market Analyst is a newly created opportunity based at Perth CBD office. The purpose of the role is to support strategic initiatives through delivery of Market Readiness components of Future Energy’s Operations Readiness programs for large scale renewable projects.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Detailed understanding market rules, particularly the WEM, both present and future arrangements, and use this knowledge to inform business decisions relating to asset design and construction, trading models and approaches to market contracting.
- Engage in business analysis to inform strategic decision-making and enhance stakeholder relationships.
- Assume the role of subject matter expert for energy markets, being available to provide expert advice and assistance to stakeholders and co-ordinate activities and engage stakeholders to enable registration of new facility participants in the WEM.
- Ensure market participant testing of new facilities are optimally conducted to achieve desired outcomes of a projects business case.
- Develop plans, standards and reports for the purposes of monitoring, achieving, and reporting of market aspects related to newly registered facilities and to ensure all market stakeholders have appropriate tools, systems, and processes to control and monitor market related aspects of newly registered facilities.
What you’ll bring:
- Tertiary education qualifications in a quantitative discipline eg Commerce (Economic, Finance, Accounting), Engineering/Physics or Mathematics/Data Science
- Experience within an energy related (e.g. electricity, oil & gas) or industrial/mining organisation.
- More than 5 years’ experience in an analytical, modelling or forecasting role.
- Experience managing generation operational performance or using market modelling software (i.e. PLEXOS) to optimise market outcomes within the WA wholesale electricity market (WEM) or national electricity market (NEM).
