We deliver secure electricity to homes and businesses throughout the Southwest Interconnected System (SWIS) from Coral Bay in the north, to Kalgoorlie in the east, and to Esperance in the southClick to discover more about how Western Australia’s energy landscape is evolving to become more sustainable.Role Summary:The Senior Market Modelling Analyst is an exciting opportunity in our Strategic Analysis and Financial Planning team based at our Perth CBD office.The purpose of the role is to support strategic initiatives and commercial decision making through operational energy Market Modelling and the provision of energy market insights.Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Undertake operational dispatch and investment modelling utilising Synergy's energy Market Modelling tool (PLEXOS).
- Support the review and development of key market assumptions which underpin energy Market Modelling activities, e.g. SWIS demand, distributed energy resources, generation operational parameters, fuel market outlook.
- Undertake end-to-end modelling processes for Synergy’s long-term supply position helping establish and maintain robust and repeatable data management processes.
- Develop bespoke operational analysis to support project tasks as they arise.
- Research the market environment outlook and future developments to inform and support the delivery of key accountabilities.
- Tertiary education qualifications in one of the following or closely related disciplines: Commerce (e.g. Economics, Finance, Accounting), Engineering, Statistics/Mathematics
- More than 5 years’ experience in a business analyst or operational/ technical analyst role within an energy related (e.g., electricity, oil & gas) or industrial/mining organisation.
- Experience managing generation operational performance or using plant dispatch models to optimise market outcomes within the WA wholesale electricity market or national electricity market.
- Detailed knowledge of energy or utility business models and value chains impacting financial outcomes.
- Strong modelling and analytics capability (advanced Excel and SQL development)
