As the Senior Mechanical Engineer - Hydro, in the Integrated Energy Team, you will be at the forefront of the renewable energy revolution and be responsible for the hydro assets located in Victoria and New South Wales. You will be providing discipline-based asset and project management expertise to ensure business unit asset risks are identified and effectively managed, project management, compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations and the upkeep of asset plans to maximise asset performance.
This position is based in our Mount Beauty office, in the heart of the Kiewa Valley with Falls Creek and the Alpine National Park at your doorstep. Mount Beauty is the centre for mountain biking, bushwalking, skiing/snowboarding and other outdoor activities, along with quality educational and health infrastructure.

What you'll be doing:
- Developing asset management strategies and outcomes aligned to business requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with AGL Asset Management Standards and systems are proactively maintained and relevant industry standards applied.
- Project managing nominated capital experience project including liaison with contractors, project coordination and project reporting.
- Sponsoring and conducting asset related investigations including formal Root Cause Analysis investigations and acting as a point of reference and technical support for managing changes in assets.
- Supporting the Maintenance and Operational teams deliver on their objectives across the hydro fleet.
- Ensuring that all Health, Safety and Environment Systems and goals are communicated and adhered to while meeting AGL's policies and standards for HSE management.
What you'll bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering coupled with heavy industry/energy generation experience (desirable) coupled with CPEng status or eligibility to be chartered and registered for the National Engineering Register.
- Experience in the development and delivery of life cycle asset management and asset risk management in a challenging market and regulatory environment.
- Proven track record for delivering reliability and efficiency improvements in operational assets.
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills, and experience investigating plant related issues including risk evaluation and risk management skills.
- Proven interpersonal skills with high quality written and verbal communication skills that can be used across all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
