The Opportunity
Reporting to the Project Manager and CEO , your key focus of your role will be to control and monitor project total expenditure including verifying and checking invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded. You will assist in preparing and reporting financial and progress updates and contribute to monthly reports and project reviews. You will also support in maintaining all project data structures relating to Project Controls and information management supporting the automated reporting and dashboards for the project.
Responsibilities
- Provide planning and cost controlling support for all projects which includes variation reporting, monitoring of milestone progress to the preparation of customer billing processes, etc.
- Perform and manage project activity scheduling and monitoring.
- Produce and issue updates to project manpower requirements.
- Check weekly time charges against scheduled staff for the given period, investigate deviation and report findings to Project Manager.
- Monitor overall project progress and achievement of major milestones.
- Ensuring that cost reports are delivered on time and within the guidelines of the Project Controls processes and procedures.
- Producing updates to project cost forecasts.
- Perform project costing-related reporting to the team and management’s review on a monthly basis to ensure that expenditures are kept within the project budget.
- Issuing potential deviation notices in accordance with engineering and construction change notifications.
- Prepare forecast adjustments to depict final costs using all available data.
- Preparation of weekly, monthly reports for Clients and for internal management and corporate reviews.
- Use "earned value" concept in forecasting; use commitments made and the "earned value" to forecast commitments.
- Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as required.
Skills / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree qualified in engineering or a related discipline; Project Management Certification/chartership is desirable
- At least 15 years’ experience in Project Controls with planning experience preferably within the Engineering Procurement and Construction and mining sectors
- Demonstrated experience in using P6 Professional 18
- Proven ability to maintain all projects control
- Solid experience of multidisciplinary coordination and project management
- Proven abilities to build sound working relationships across diverse groups internally and externally
- Strong stakeholder management - Internal/External
- Excellent communication skills
- A strong working knowledge using Primavera (P6)
- Knowledge of the use of CMS (Construction Management System) software is highly advantageous.
