BP is transforming its former oil refinery in Kwinana to an integrated energy hub, where it plans to produce biofuels and renewable hydrogen. What you'll do
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Perth.
You will play a key role providing specific engineering services to Worley and its clients for the hydrocarbons, energy and chemicals industries to enable construction of of production plants and facilities.
The role responsibilities include:
- Deliver discipline specific engineering services that meet Worley, its client's and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Perform discipline specific engineering services such as:
o Provide technical guidance for Static Equipment to the mechanical team.
o prepare and review the production of detailed design deliverables including datasheets, specifications, scope of supply, technical bid evaluations, drawings, specifications, calculations and reports;
o review, consolidate and co-ordinate interdisciplinary review of vendor data and drawings,
o liaise with vendors during completion of technical bid evaluation and clarification phase and then throughout package execution and delivery.
o ensure the project scope is clear and identify changes to scope as required in line with project change management processes;
o conduct or contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions;
o participate in relevant meetings, follow required checking procedures;
- Technically evaluate vendor equipment supply proposals.
- Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its client's requirements.
- Identify issues and problems; develop appropriate and innovative solutions and ask for assistance if required.
What you'll have
- Previous experience on Major Brownfield Refinery Projects, through all phases, included execution.
- Experience in static pressure equipment design and specification, such as Shell and Tube heat exchangers, Air cooled heat exchangers, Process columns including internals, drums and separators
- Working knowledge of pressure equipment design standards; ASME and Australian standards, including Australian requirements for verification and registration
- Working knowledge and experience working with API and TEMA standards for Static Equipment listed above.
- Experience with refinery equipment material requirements and selection considerations to avoid common failure mechanisms with items such as Hydrogen, H2S etc.
- Understanding of piping and pipe supports and the interfaces with mechanical equipment.
- Experience in MS Office Suite and discipline specific including: Navisworks, Bluebeam / Adobe Suite
