Senior Mechanical Engineer / Team Leader

Caddy Storage has an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Team Leader to join our established Design Team in Blacktown NSW.

About the Role:

The successful applicant will be expected to learn and develop their skills alongside our experienced team at our premises in Blacktown with the view to managing the design team and department projects in the short-term future. The role will incorporate the following duties:

Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm

• Managing & working with the design team to ensure projects are meeting deadlines and are within the allocated budget.
• Providing detailed written updates to Senior Management on the progress of development projects.
• Liaising with fellow staff in the sales team to design products to their specific requirements.
• Liaising with and designing products to customer specifications.
• Develop and provide concepts & renders to Caddy Storage customers.
• Designing products for mass production.
• Designing products that meet the relevant Automotive Standards & Design Regulations.
• Testing specified products to meet relevant Automotive Standards and design Regulations.
• Working with the marketing team to supply necessary information & promotional requirements on new products.
• Creating instruction guides for installation/distribution of the new products.
• Resolve and rectify any product issues that arise during the manufacturing and installation process. (Delegate to other members of the design team if required.)
• Provide troubleshooting for Caddy staff nationally on developed products.
• Update existing parts from our current product range.
• Communicate with overseas suppliers to develop new products.

About You:

We are seeking an applicant with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design.

• Minimum of 5 years experience in sheet metal-based design.
• A high level of written and spoken English is necessary. 
• A high level of proficiency in using Solidworks for designing is essential.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to work unsupervised, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Ability to organize & project manage fellow workers within the design team.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Time management skills are essential.
