We are looking for a Senior Aquaculture Scientist. The role will be based in Bribie Island. This is a casual full-time position with the ongoing contract.
As a Senior Aquaculture Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in driving forward our research initiatives. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and implementing innovative solutions for waste treatment and management in aquaculture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Aquaculture Transformation Pond Health Program leader on existing projects and develop new initiatives in pond bloom management and aeration efficiency.
- Establish a specialised technical working group to explore novel aquaculture pond nutrient management technologies.
- Lead the planning and execution of a technical workshop focused on innovative waste treatment and management in aquaculture.
- Provide expert guidance on on-farm nutrient management to achieve project objectives.
- Undertake weekend and after-hours work as required.
The Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in Applied Science, Aquaculture, Fisheries Science or equivalent.
- Proficiency in wastewater treatment or remediation, with a focus on discharge nutrient management.
- In-depth understanding of aquaculture pond bloom dynamics and mitigation strategies.
- Proven experience in waste minimisation techniques and discharge optimisation.
- Exceptional communication skills for engaging with stakeholders and collaborating with fellow scientists.
- Strong project management abilities and a track record of research leadership.
- Flexibility to work weekends and outside regular business hours (fieldwork and fish spawning work)
- Valid manual "C" class driver's license.
