Work for one of Victoria's most recognised public sector organisations. Its people and the wider Victorian community are at the heart of everything they do. Through careful research and planning, they offer a vital service to the public. After assessing the functions of their wider communications division, they are seeking a Senior Media Advisor to join their team for a minimum of three months.

Your new role

The role of the Media Adviser will mostly be drafting media releases and responses, as well as answering enquiries from the press. This role is also tied in with Ministerial Event and Public Relations, which involves helping source locations for ministerial events and appearances, as well as organising the logistics around the event.Your key responsibilities will include:

• Drafting media releases and responses
• Ministerial briefings for events and press conferences
• Finding newsworthy stories to develop and pitch to senior staff
• Identifying opportunities and risks through monitoring traditional and social media platforms
• Internal stakeholder engagement and management

What you’ll need to succeed

• Resilience and adaptability to a fast-changing environment

• Skills and experience in media liaison

• A background in journalism is highly desirable

• Ability to identify and tell compelling stories

• Working knowledge of social media and digital communications

• Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia

• Previous VPS experience would be highly advantageous

• Stakeholder engagement and management skills
