Davidson are a preferred supplier for the government sector and have strong partnerships within local, state and federal government.

We are seeking a A06 Senior Media Officer for an initial 5 month contract. The Senior Media Officer will be working within the Communications and Engagement team and is based west of Brisbane CBD, with hybrid working from home arrangements.

About the Role

The Senior Media Officer will provide external media management with advice. The position is a principal correspondent with external media outlets and contributes to

managing the company’s reputation and image through external media releases and associated publications.

The key deliverables include:

• Act as a principal correspondent to external media, contributing to the departments brand through responsiveness to media requests and issues.
• Prepare media releases and associated written and verbal advice in response to emergent media issues.
• Inform the media strategy for the department and cultivate a positive and collaborative network of internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Continually improve the departments media monitoring and responsiveness, including content analysis and system enhancement.
• Provide specialist guidance, advice, and presentations to senior leaders, elected officials, government partners, local business and industry groups on media matters.
• Provide tactical advice and support to Council and Councillors on media and reputation management issues and initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to governance and management frameworks, methods and strategies with due regard to relevant policies, procedures and delegations.
• Perform any other duties that are reasonable, within the competency, skills and training of the incumbent, as may be directed from time to time, based on business needs.

About You:

• Tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism, Media, Publicity, and extensive experience related to government/corporate/agency media and communications.
• Current Queensland “C” class driver’s licence

The Benefits:
This opportunity offers you an initial 5-month contract with potential to extend, and an hourly rate $68.92 per hour + Superannuation (negotiable).

The client offers flexible working conditions split between work from home and their based office.
