About the Role
The Mental Health Senior Peer Worker is responsible for delivering both individual and group non-clinical, holistic recovery-focused psychosocial support services. This is through the Individual Recovery Support Program and the Group Based Peer Recovery Support Program for eligible individuals experiencing a severe mental illness in the Gold Coast region.
The Senior Peer Worker is required to use their own lived experience of recovery openly, appropriately and effectively to build professional relationships with the people they support. They are also responsible for supporting the practice of the peer workforce within this program and will contribute to the leadership and development of the lived experience workforce more broadly across WMQ.
About You
For this role you will have a lived experience of Mental Health challenges and recovery, with a well-developed personal and professional framework of peer work. You will have a ddemonstrated experience in working in Mental Health, including safety planning, and/or in-depth understanding of Mental Health issues including best treatment options and relevant support services from a Recovery and Family Inclusive Model of Recovery based practice.
Also essential is a:

• Demonstrated understanding of a sound knowledge of the issues facing a wide and diverse variety of community members, particularly those with Mental Health issues and available services and supports.
• Capacity to build strong networks and pathways of support to benefit clients and families of the program
• An ability to deliver low intensity Mental Health supports including coaching, brief psychosocial interventions, evidence-based group programs and an understanding of their role in holistic care.
