Position Overview
As the Senior Mine planning, you will play a pivotal role in collaborating with our esteemed client to optimise CHPP operations and strategies to ensure the successful execution of the UHG project. This dynamic role requires expertise in coal mining operations, pit optimisation, scheduling, equipment selection, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Perform all types of turbulence and viscosity calculations, pipe calculations, pump calculations, and turbulent flow-related testing.
Able to advise and make decisions based on data and test results.
Calculate and optimize the washability of raw coal.
Optimize equipment operation and data analysis of testing and researching preparation plant equipment.
Processing equipment and software optimization testing.
Managing the technology selection trials and simulating flowsheets.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in process engineering.
7 years or greater of experience in a coal processing plant.
Experienced with working in a wet plant with a capacity of at least 5 million tons per year.

Where you’ll be working:
The Ukhaa Khudag Coal Mine in Mongolia’s south Gobi Desert is the most remote mine site in the Thiess global mining portfolio
Started from nothing in 2008, the mine is now fully established and producing high-quality metallurgical coal, having undergone one of the longest mobilisation operations in the world.
Extreme weather where severe dust storms prevail in summer and winter temperatures routinely reach minus 40 degrees Celsius, presents significant challenges to the workforce and CHPP.
Successfully managing such extremes demonstrates our capability in mobilising and operating remote mine sites and our unwavering commitment to our client and the community.
The CHPP is operated 100% by the Client with Thiess' value add including specific positions such as this to aid in the Clients success.
