A new and exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our well established Acute care team at Ryde Hospital. This position is available for 3 years and provides an opportunity for an experienced clinician to work in a new service of dedicated allied health service for patients and carers accessing our Emergency Department. The role will provide an opportunity to shape service provision, utilising skills such as service development and quality improvement and evaluation using outcome measures.
We are looking for a motivated team player to work alongside a Multidisciplinary team to establish, develop and evaluate this new service model.

The Occupational Therapy team at Ryde hospital includes a team of therapists and Allied health assistants working across Acute care and rehabilitation, and alongside our colleagues in the Community service.
Ryde Hospital is having an incredible $479 million complete hospital redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community.
The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will result in new health facilities and enhanced services including emergency, ICU/critical care, inpatient units, outpatient/ambulatory care services and much more.
Construction commenced in early 2023, and will provide you with a wonderful and exciting opportunity to be part of the Ryde team to change the future health services for the Ryde Community completely.
What you'll be doing
The Senior Clinical Occupational Therapist will provide clinical leadership within the occupational therapy service including optimisation of care delivery.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Full registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia. Evidence of extensive clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist Level 2.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities or service evaluation process. Experience in clinical teaching and supervision of students, level 1/2 Allied Health Professionals and/or Allied Health Assistants.
- Demonstrated proficient skills and knowledge in the provision of current occupational therapy practice in Acute Care, Rapid Response or ED services. A strong commitment to an evidence-based service to provide for consumers, carers and families requiring assessment, case management, intervention, appropriate referral and discharge planning.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
