The Senior Officer, Research Grants is responsible for providing high quality and responsive support services across all campuses and support researchers by assisting with the management of grants and fellowships through their full life cycle. The incumbent is expected to develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies, assist researchers in identifying grant opportunities and maintain records of grant applications, awards and outcomes.
As a Senior Officer, you will:
Plan and oversee the application, submission, central administration and management of competitive grants awards.
Collaborate and support Faculties/Institutes and research teams to develop competitive grant applications by providing guidance on proposal writing, formatting and adherence to funding agency requirements.
Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the university's grant application and administration processes by staying up to date updated on trends and best practices in research funding, grant writing, and grant management.
Review and provide feedback on grant proposals to ensure clarity, accuracy and compliance with grant award guidelines.
Work with faculty, Finance and project teams to create comprehensive project budgets, including salaries, equipment, and other expenses, ensuring that budget aligns with the proposed project activities and funding agency guidelines.
What you will need:
A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields
A Degree with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience; or
Extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields; or
An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated experience working in a busy, complex, administrative environment as part of a hardworking and collaborative team.
Experience interpreting policies, guidelines and procedures, reviewing and editing documentation against eligibility requirements and providing clear, concise advice or constructive feedback to clients.
Experience in the use of research or other comparable databases and a high level of competence in using standard office computing applications.
Experience in the preparation or assessment of grant applications and/or experience of award management and reporting
