Located in Orange, this newly created role presents a unique opportunity to work closely alongside the Director of Operations in NSW in supporting and assisting our incoming PALM workers with their transition to life and work in Australia. The PALM Scheme is a government initiative bringing qualified care staff from the Pacific Island region to work within regional communities in Australia. The PALM Support Officer will have a dedicated focus on ensuring a smooth process for the new employees joining us from Fiji in their new role as Assistant's in Nursing.
The aim of this position is to be the first point of contact for our PALM employees and provide a range of welfare, training, and practical supports within a geographical area of residential care homes. This position is also not your typical 9am to 5pm role, and within your weekly working hours you may be required to be flexible and available for out of hours work, including weekends.
You will be the employees first point of contact for non-work-related issues and will provide care and support to ensure settlement into their local environment, the workplace, and to build skills required for independent living in a new country.
The Role
This role is designed to work as a concierge and welfare support for the new PALM workers, by offering the following assistance:
- Meeting the new workers at the airport and showing them to their new homes. Introduce them to their surroundings including the local town, shops and work environment
- Assisting the new worker in obtaining groceries, household goods, and set up of mobile phones, transport and other requirements to live in Australia
- Ensure employees understand the expectations around working conditions, as well as their housing provisions with Bolton Clarke
- Act as a liaison for any concerns either work or personally related
- Coordinate support within the local area around religious services, medical services, EAP and financial assistance
- Complete regular check-ins to ensure the new employees have settled in and do not have any concerns or issues surrounding work or their homelife
Requirements
- Strong and clear verbal communication skills

- The ability to think outside the box to provide assistance in unforeseen circumstances
