Job description

Japanese as a second Language is preferred for this Role. 

This is a rare opportunity for someone who has experience in the legal field as a lawyer or Senior Paralegal or senior EA and would like a change from regular office work to something different for the short term for 15-20 hours per-week working from home. 

You will assist the Director across four seperate companies of operation; Property, Legal, Retail and an Online Startup. 

You will begin on a short-term contract with the intention of moving to a permanent part-time role in the future should the businesses require it. 

Your role will be varied ranging from site meetings, to drafting correspondence and organising presentations, dealing with financiers and maintaining contact with key stakeholders. 

You will be exposed to the property and construction industry as well as retail trade and online startup. You will work closely and report to the Director only whilst dealing with important tasks and decisions which will lead to the growth of business and enterprise. 

This role will require you to be pro-active and maintain communication whilst dealing with professionals in accounting, legal, retail and construction. You will be exposed to several different industries and evidence your skills and adaptability across them all. The Director wears many ‘hats’ and the business direction can change quickly therefore someone who is excited to ‘jump in’ to this role, be curious and work on new things will enjoy the tasks given to them. Daily activities include assisting in new business startups, supervision of construction projects, assisting in retail trade and tracking objectives. 

You will be encouraged to self manage tasks, provide advice and input into meetings and on decisions. 

Generally no two days are the same! Tasks will include;

  • Maintenance of accurate records, file meetings, applications and referrals;
  • Drafting leases, letters and other legal documentation;
  • Organising meetings with key stakeholders; 
  • Drafting and typing correspondence, construction and legal documentation;
  • Review of advice, contractor information and documentation;
  • Review of leasing material, banking information and general contracts;
  • Organisation of other employees, contractors and stakeholders;
  • Preparation of financial records, debt summaries and spreadsheets;
  • Organisation of new business startup's, forecasting and planning;
  • Stakeholder, Contractor, Director and employee liaison.
  • Insurance review and advice. 

As a must you need to have;

  • Integrity!
  • Confidence;
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
  • IT literacy across Microsoft and Excel;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to handle a number of tasks simultaneously;
  • Capacity to take initiative and work autonomously but also as part of a team;
  • Positive approach to work and changing environments;
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement across processes and procedures.

Qualifications / Knowledge 

  • Diploma of Business or Legal Services will be highly regarded but not necessary
  • LLB or LLM but not necessary if experience in the industry 

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a lawyer or experience in law firm, construction firm or startup environment.

You will  need to provide details of two recent employers and reference checks and you will need to submit a criminal record check. 

You will ‘work from home’ and be expected to attend site meetings/in person meetings when required. 

Japanese as a second language is preferred!
