Senior Payroll Officer

This role is vital for ensuring the smooth operation of Australia's monthly and bi-monthly payrolls. You will collaborate with external providers to guarantee regulatory compliance and timely payments. Additionally, you will assist with data entry and manage cash disbursements for the online banking system as needed.

As our Senior Payroll Officer you’ll also ;

• Liaise with external payroll providers and prepare the monthly and periodic payroll cycles for the Australian businesses.
• Accurately prepare termination calculations as required.
• Ensure compliance with superannuation and employee pension funds in collaboration with the Group Manager for Payroll and Payables.
• Review and verify bonus calculations for accuracy, ensuring they align with company policies.
• Ensure compliance with leave systems and liaise with staff to facilitate the completion of timesheets and leave forms.
• Reconcile leave applications and timesheets.
• Assist the Group Payroll and Payables Manager with payroll regulatory compliance and related tax matters.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment and tax laws and ordinances related to payroll compliance.
• Perform administrative functions on employee self-service portals and respond promptly to all staff payroll inquiries.
• Handle any other related matters as directed by the Group Payroll and Payables Manager or Financial Controller.
• Assist in preparing necessary reconciliations, data entry, and journals for monthly and year-end reports.
• Support audit preparation and finalization of year-end reconciliations and audit schedules as directed.
• Assist with preparing the clearing house upload and superannuation payments as directed by the Group Payroll and Payables Manager.
• Provide necessary payroll information and data to staff for new work tenders as required.
• Prepare termination calculations as required.

This role is a all-rounder position, with the opportunity to add value in the following areas;

• 3+ years of experience in same or similar position
• Proven knowledge and understanding of Australian payroll laws, regulation and modern awards
• Demonstrated Payroll Administration experience
• Previous accounts payable experience
• Ability to work autonomously with a highly proactive approach
• Experience using accounting software - Microsoft AX experience will be highly regarded
• High organisational and time management skills; with attention to detail
• Excellent communications skills
