About the Role
They are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Policy Writer to join their team in Sydney CBD with the flexibility to work from home. This is an estimated 5-month temporary assignment, with the potential to extend.
Working within the Data Governance program, you will coordinate, monitor and lead the development of a range of Data Policies and Frameworks that support our clients objectives and strategic direction and related initiatives. Support the Data Governance Council to oversee the development, execution, and continuous improvement of our client’s Data Policies and Frameworks. Ensure close and active collaboration with stakeholders from across the business.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, review, and cyclical update of a wide range of enterprise data related policies, governance frameworks, associated procedures, and guidance materials, with a high level of collaboration across other our clients business units and specialist areas within Risk, Legal, Records Management, and Data Governance and Management.
  • Ensure documents and tools are fit for purpose and enable a robust risk, governance, and compliance control frameworks. This will include assessing and evaluating policies and procedures to ensure they achieve intended objectives and recommend improvements where appropriate.
  • Establishment of consultative workgroups and coaching these groups to enable effective consultation and feedback for documentation drafts.
  • Drive continuous improvements and apply best practices to write meaningful documentation for the Frameworks, associated policies and procedures ensuring they reflect industry best in class.
  • Ensure timely development and implementation of strategies for the monitoring and evaluation of policy initiatives to identify risks and issues.
  • Oversee and monitor the application of the data related policies and associated documentation across the enterprise.
  • Cross-referencing documentation to check and ensure consistency.
  • Oversee the effective management of research, analysis, and review of complex policy issues.
  • Lead the provision of expert and timely policy advice to inform relevant stakeholders and support policy directions.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement, consultation and negotiation on policy issues applying best practice methodologies to identify and develop solutions and make recommendations.
  • Model and encourage a culture of continuous learning and leadership, including coaching, guiding, and developing talent within the Policy team.
  • Assisting the Data Governance Council in driving a culture of continuous improvement within the organisation.
About You
  • Experience developing frameworks and policies.
  • Demonstrated experience in the Australian regulatory environment. Experience in government is preferred.
  • Significant experience in a governance, risk management or compliance role within an insurance, corporate or commercially driven public sector environment.
  • Experience successfully building rapport and influence at all levels of an organisation from front-line
  • Experience in a role operating in a fast-paced environment with significant competing priorities, a decentralised leadership model and dealing with ambigui.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in business or law, or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through extensive practical experience.
  • Pre-Employment Checks
  • Ability to understand complex information and present in Plain English format
  • Developed understanding of whole of business risk and mitigation strategies.
  • Address problems in the work environment and develop and implement action plans.
  • Ensure decisions are based on evidence, but when necessarily make effective judgments under pressure.
  • Make decisions within the level of financial and administrative delegation assigned to the role and within corporate / government / legislative protocols.
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
  • Reliable remote internet access to work remotely from home
  • Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
