Job description

We are seeking a Senior Project Officer for a temporary full-time position until 31 January 2024, unless otherwise determined. Do you want to be part of a team working across a dynamic and complex Risk and Assurance environment for a large government agency? Are you highly motivated and efficient? Can you lead stakeholders using your communication skills to arrive at the planned objective? If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply!

About Us:

You will work for an organisation that values its people and promotes leadership and innovation. We respect professionalism, embrace diversity and a balance between work and life commitments. You will be actively supported as an individual and will have access to a range of flexible work options, an employee assistance program and learning and development opportunities.

About the Role:

The Principal Program Officer supports the Risk and Assurance function to drive effective and efficient management of the education infrastructure portfolio, ensuring all areas of the Division are well supported to meet their Risk and Assurance obligations. The team supports the Divisions' broader Risk and Assurance functions.
We are a small collaborative team who work closely with all areas of Infrastructure Services Division as well as the wider department.

  • We focus on the future - by delivering what matters
  • We inspire change - leading with vision and influence
  • Making a difference - acting with purpose and expertise
  • We are committed - to our stakeholders, our team and each other
  • Genuine partnerships - building strong partnerships and communities

The role will involve the review and synthesis of information from different sources to consolidate and provide advice across the Division. Through effective consultation and collaboration with stakeholders the team is able to understand challenges across the Division. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to interpret this information into reports to the broader department.

Highly desirable skills and experience;

  • We are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organisational skills and is able to adapt to change in a complex organisation. Your desire to embrace new challenges and focus on identifying opportunities to improve outcomes, practices and processes will position you to succeed in this role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to interpret this information into reports to the broader department.
  • Prior experience in areas such as risk management, audit or assurance is advantageous.

Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.

How to apply:

  • Please attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history), and
  • A maximum 2-page written statement on how you meet the requirements of the role as detailed above.

We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.

Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.

Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.

When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.

Salary rate shown is reflective of full-time (1.0 FTE).
